Dr. Psychogios is an ABMGG-certified clinical geneticist and a Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (FACMG).

He earned his MD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1989), practiced cardiology in the United Kingdom, then completed residency in medical genetics at Columbia University Medical Center and a fellowship in clinical molecular genetics at Harvard Medical School.

He previously served as Associate Director at Providence Health & Services in Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County), Chief of Genetics at Dayton Children’s Hospital and as Chief of Genetics and Metabolism at Kentucky Children’s Hospital, where he founded Kentucky’s first cardiovascular genetics and genomics service at the UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute. He has held faculty appointments and practicing privileges at Mayo Clinic, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Cleveland Clinic.

He is the founder of Genome1st USA and Genome1st Europe, a private clinical genetics practice and genomics company offering  in-person and remote consultation, whole-exome and whole-genome testing and interpretation, first and second-opinion care for children and adults.

Clinical interests include undiagnosed and rare disease, cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, and aortopathies, heritable connective-tissue disorders, hereditary cancer, neurodevelopmental conditions, pharmacogenomics, and the use of whole genome sequencing (WGS) as a first-line test for precise diagnosis, management, and prevention of disease.

He is licensed in the United States and in Greece, consults in English and Greek, and is developing a European clinical presence (Athens and remote) while maintaining a busy U.S. academic practice at West Virginia University.
